Confluentes III. Breaking through boundaries
29.07.2018 until 12.08.2018
Unlike the previous exhibitions ‘Confluentes’ and ‘Confluentes II – Art and Science’, for both of which international artists were invited to the Ludwig Museum at the Deutsches Eck, this time the focus is consciously on boundaries and overcoming them. The theme is addressed from a variety of perspectives. It is envisaged that artists not only involve the museum itself, but also, in particular through various actions, performances and interventions, a variety of other, historically significant places.
The Ludwig Museum presents the work of three individual artists: Jongsuk Yoon (Korea), Zhang Fangbai (China) and René Böll (Germany) meet in a dialogue. A special highlight will be the colour changes to the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial at the Deutsches Eck planned by Lydia Nüüd & Johann Thiessen (Germany), when they symbolically break down the former borders. In the church of St Castor, the artists Sylvia Cibaldi (Italy) and Leonilde Carabba (Italy) will illustrate the subject of division and connection. Cony Theis deals with communication beyond the prison walls, and Ilya Pusenkoff interviews travellers in the cable car. In the atrium of the Dreikönigenhaus, Elias Maya will stage a performance with other artists and musicians.
The project is being developed in collaboration with Garwain e.K. Verlag & Kunstprojekte Kallenbach, Koblenz. The project is also supported by numerous sponsors.
