China´s ReVision - Focus Beijing
November 9, 2008 – End of 25th January 2009

Mu Boyan, untitiled, 90x57x24cm, sculpture, 2005-2006

The art scene and market in China are booming, and through the results of famous auction houses Chinese art comes more and more to the centre of attention. Since a significant donation to the National Museum of China (NAMOC), Beijing, in 1996, the Ludwig collection has been present as a contact and partner of exchange for Chinese artists. Numerous joint projects have followed in cooperation with the different Ludwig Museums and contacts have been strengthened continuously. The current exhibition combines new positions of the Chinese art scene, yet without excluding internationally known artists such as Yue Minjun, whose grinning people can be interpreted in a humorous as well as in a socio-critical way. Above all, the exhibition reflects transformations within Chinese art and society, as the first period of orientation after the opening of China is over now and thus new issues move into the focus of art. After several presentations in different countries, the exhibition will be shown at NAMOC, Beijing, in 2009.
