In the past ten years, the metropolis Berlin has pooled its artistic resources, developing a new network of galleries. Numerous renowned artists - some of which have already been living in Berlin for a long time as well as others, who have recently moved there - will be united in this exhibition. The presentation gives a first overview of the most diverse current trends, yet focussing on new, at times exceptional tendencies.
The medium paper forms the basis for the exhibition: It is the source of a great number of most original artistic formulations, far from big pictorial compositions, yet being understood as an independent medium. Not seldomly does what one might call the most fundamental forces in the process of artistic identification and formulation accure on paper, in drawings, in watercolours, in small formats etc. Therefore, abstract creations as well as figurative up to hyperrealistic works are combined in the exhibition.
Among the 22 artistic positions there are works of Elvira Bach, Frank Badur, Rainer Fetting, Takehito Koganezawa, Wolfgang Petrick, Yehudit Sasportas, Cornelia Schleime, Jochen Stenschke, Jorinde Voigt and others. The exhibition is curated by Dr. Alexander Tolnay, Berlin. An exhibition catalogue will be published.
