Museum Pedagogy

takes on the meaning in the Ludwig Museum of presenting current art as a place of marvel and learning to all interested persons, both to young people and to those who remain young at heart.

In a historical building, the Deutschherrenhaus am Deutschen Eck, upon a site steeped in history, highly diverse groups are brought closer to contemporary art as well as to first-rate temporary exhibitions in a diversified and creative manner.

The Pedagogical Section of the museum, under the direction of Ute Hofmann-Gill, offers a program that is tailored to the various temporary exhibitions and which is oriented, not just towards children and young people, but also towards adults.

An essential aspect of the pedagogical activity in the Ludwig Museum consists, not only in conveying theoretical knowledge about art and artists, but also in providing an impulse for a personal, creative encounter with art. Accordingly, the program includes rallies, workshops, courses in design, discussion sessions and, of course, traditional guided tours through the exhibitions. Included as well are mutual interminglings between art and music (with expert musical pedagogues), between dance and art, as well as between art and literature.

The school-specific offerings are oriented towards the current plan of instruction for the subject "Visual Arts."
